Newly appointed Executive Director of MENTOR Greater Milwaukee LaNelle Ramey to lead training

MILWAUKEE (Oct. 29, 2019) – MENTOR Greater Milwaukee (MGM) will host a youth mentor training session for Milwaukee Bucks employees tomorrow, from noon-1 p.m., at the Bucks offices (1543 N. 2nd St. 6th Fl.).

Newly appointed Executive Director of MGM LaNelle Ramey will lead the training and touch on the various building blocks of creating strong mentor and mentee relationships. The training will be tailored to the 15-20 Bucks employees who will participate in the Bucks’ 2019-20 after-school mentoring program with youth from Our Next Generation.

LaNelle joins the MGM team after previously serving in the youth services field, working for Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee and Milwaukee Public Schools. Through initiatives like tomorrow’s youth mentor training, LaNelle will work to expand access to high-quality mentoring trainings and services to increase the number of youth in positive mentoring relationships.

MGM has also hired Betty Hill as MGM’s Program Coordinator. Hill will work with mentoring programs, community leaders and volunteers to ensure that valuable mentoring is available and provided to youth in the City of Milwaukee.

“As a the newest MENTOR affiliate, we are fortunate to welcome a leader like LaNelle who understands the mentoring landscape in our region and can bring strategic leadership around the need to strengthen and support our youth serving organizations while ensure every child that needs a mentor in Milwaukee and the surrounding areas has a quality one available,“  said Joe’Mar Hooper, Chair of the MGM Board of Directors.  “Betty Hill is a great complement to LaNelle while helping MENTOR become a valuable asset to the community, our partners, and the youth we serve.”

This is the third year the Bucks have partnered with a community organization to host after-school mentoring in the Bucks offices.
