A Welcome Letter from MENTOR Greater Milwaukee’s Executive Director……

Dear Friends and Colleagues:

I am honored to launch the newest MENTOR Affiliate in the City of Milwaukee, MENTOR Greater Milwaukee. I want to thank MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership (MENTOR) and the MGM Advisory Board for their support and assistance in helping me transition into this position.

My professional experiences include positions with the United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County, the Medical College of Wisconsin and Froedtert Health. I was responsible for financial management, board, committee and volunteer management, regional meetings, new program development and alliance building with community organizations.

In 2016, the City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee Public Schools funded a study to explore the feasibility of establishing a Mentor Affiliate in Milwaukee. This group enlisted the Public Policy Forum (PPF) to conduct the research and, “Mentoring in Milwaukee: Developing a Regional Mentoring Network,” was published in September of the same year LINK . The study engaged more than 13 additional mentoring organizations in the strategic planning process. Following the study, it was determined that there is an unmet demand for quality mentors. As a result, the following organizations agreed to partner: Milwaukee Public Schools, Milwaukee Bucks, and the City of Milwaukee to increase quality mentorship for youth.

One of the primary goals of MENTOR Greater Milwaukee will be to build capacity among agencies that are currently offering mentoring services by providing training, recruitment strategies, research and establishing best practices. To better serve the youth of the City of Milwaukee we will build upon existing community partnerships and create new collaborations.

I look forward to building the next chapter in Milwaukee’s mentoring landscape with each of you – TOGETHER. Let’s ensure that all children have the mentoring supports they need to grow, thrive, and succeed.
